Distinctives

We believe that the Bible is sufficient for all things faith and practice. This includes church life, structure, and priorities. Below are a few distinctives derived from the way we see worship practiced in Scripture.

1. Christ Centered: The church exists for the glory of Christ. It is through Him alone that we are made righteous before God. We seek to proclaim the preeminence of Christ and sovereignty of God in all that we do.

2. Scripturally Sound: The Bible is God’s perfect revelation to man. We seek to do all things in accordance with what God has said in His Word. In 2 Timothy 3:16, we are instructed that, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness”

3. Biblical Preaching: We see a clear pattern of strong, Scripture based preaching in the Bible. As such, we practice expositional and systematic preaching of God’s Word. The preacher has the responsibility to (1) Call sinners to repentance before a just and holy God through the finished work of Christ (2) Apply the truth and standards set forth in Scripture to our daily life and cultural moments (3) Proclaim the character and perfection of God with fear and trembling.

4. Family Focused: God designed the family for His glory and our enjoyment. As a result of the Fall and human sin, our experience with family is often fragmented and difficult. We believe that even within this imperfect state, God’s promises remain true and full of power. The Bible describes children as a blessing, arrows in the quiver of a warrior, a heritage from the LORD, and as a reward. The Bible also teaches that the family is the primary means of discipling children in God’s Word. We seek to support this by including children in church life whenever and wherever possible. We also desire to equip parents for this task and to walk alongside them through the challenges brought by sin and imperfection.

5. Team Leadership: In the Bible, we see the church led by a plurality of men, working in unison for the glory of Christ. At Logos, we seek to practice this sort of leadership. Team leadership creates increased accountability, a diversity of gifts and knowledge, and shared responsibility.
